You’ve probably noticed how much content we’re pumping out about Facebook. That’s because we’ve been getting a TON of questions about how to get the most out of the social network.

Molly Pittman, VP of Digital Marketer, is one of the world’s leading experts when it comes to Facebook ads and Facebook marketing strategy. Today, we get a Facebook Ads Tutorial from her personally.

In episode 95 of The Dealer Playbook, Molly shares ideas about how you can 10x your Facebook ads ROI, ramp up your dealership business, and dominate in your market.

Key Facebook Ads Tutorial Insights:

Facebook ads are different than Google ads and should not be treated the same.

On Google, people are searching for answers to their questions, or solutions to problems.

On Facebook, people are there to connect with friends and family, or keep in touch with associates. As such, your ads need to feel like they organically fit into the news feed rather than blatantly disturbing the flow that people have come to enjoy.

Deliver Value at varying stages of the buying funnel.

Most dealership Facebook advertising focuses on the low funnel, ready-to-show-intent shoppers. Sadly, this is some of the most expensive advertising that can be done on PPC platforms like Google of Facebook because the competition is so high.

And with every dealer pretty much broadcasting the same message, capturing the attention of qualified buyers is more difficult.

But advertising to low funnel shoppers is still essential to winning business. It’s just not the only advertising you should do.

Molly Pittman suggests adding more strategy on-top of your existing ads for those that are higher up in the funnel. For example, produce and promote content about the best places to take your kids on a Sunday drive, or the top burger joints in town is content that is share-worthy to the majority of people.

The goal is to get as many eyes on you as possible. That way, when they are ready to start car shopping, they will remember your dealership first.

I just wish she went over other examples, I understand that this will work with many things to sell online, but selling a niche online via drop shipping I feel has a different approach. But then again if i knew anything i wouldn’t be looking for help lol But what I’m saying is ive seen and heard many drop shippers posting a "flash sale" on facebook "9.99 free shipping $60 off today only" and getting 100 sales over night. Im looking for that type of marketing, like is it PPE or WC? Are my audiences to open? This was useful, and i thank you, just wish you guys went into other examples!

Facebook is Limited to targeting people based on their INTEREST. We all have interests on facebook it does not mean i will therefore be a buyer of a product in that interest. Its simple common sense, worst of all facebook knows whos buying online and what they are buying but some how does not not include this information when advertising. I tell you as a Start Up or small business unless you have alot of money that you can reach alot of people everyday who may or may not buy. Your best bet is Google as atleast you can target people who are searching for that product/service using the search bar that we all use when looking for something Google and your marketing will be based on people typing in keywords that match your product/service eliminating Likes, Comments etc and bringing in buyers who are looking for your product.

I am amazed how Facebook with all the data it gathers on everyone who is shopping for what, where and when cannot give you this information first hand when building an ad since your spending money. It doesn’t make sense to have to do multiple multiple ads just to test who is buying from you may may not get back all your money and your left stuck when already they have all the information. Screw Facebook go with Google at least they are clear.

I agree 110% with this video. Now when I continue to "preach" to my clients that Adwords and Facebook ads are certainly different in the way they approach leads, I feel a bit better that an industry leader has the same philosophy.

I look at AdWords as targeting the ppl ready to buy SOON or NOW, using the appropriate keywords. I’ve seen too many wasted search campaigns targeting nonbuyers. Since Facebook and organic SEO are usually "less expensive",and they both have a long er lifetime , Facebook (social) is def the way to target users for AWARENESS and INTEREST. Not to mention it’s almost always less expensive than Adwords, but for good reason. (stage of buyer intent)

One of the better tutorials for value given. The points made here were not surprisingly novel, but they were very sensible, and makes one wonder why we are not really doing this when of course it is the correct approach. Thanks for the reminder.

I got so much value from this episode!! Previous to this I watched the interview you did with Gary Vee and I was saying I’m not going to watch anything because I am a Gary fan 💯 .. But I gave it a shot and this gave me practical step by step on how to run successful campaigns. And I am not in the car business, I am in DIY and Vaping business. Thank you very much! Looking forward to more!

If I go to buy a car and tell the car dealer, I’m looking to buy a red car, but the car dealer only shows me green cars, I will feel disappointed and probably leave without buying a car.  I felt this way about your video.  Although the information you shared was excellent and very informative for people who do not know about Value Based Selling and Sales Funnels on different platforms,  I had to stop it after 16 minutes, because I was looking for a Facebook Ads Tutorial, not an Internet Marketing Lecture.  I feel the title should be Facebook Marketing Strategies or something similar. 🙂 But like I said, I didn’t watch it all the way though, and  maybe you got to an actual tutorial somewhere down the line. ..  P. S Molly you are a great source of knowledge!
