A way to thin of it is that in the field "private potpie birthday", potpie is the Class name and birthday is the reference variable. It's almost as if you wrote part of an instance of an Object, as in "potpie birthday= new potpie(); However we said "potpie birthday"! So we are really creating an instance of the potpie class with birthday as the Object's reference name…right?
Your tutorials are great and all but the use of non conforming capitalization and odd class names is just confusing. If you ever come back I would hope that you redo some of these videos. Most of my programming classes reference to come and watch your videos.
