Thanks for that great tutorial! I didn't find a good explanation on how to write Swing-Applications because most tutorials and books teach FX now. Unfortunatly I needed Swing for my Java class, luckily I found u.
PS: That small "mistakes" made me smile 😀

Thanks so much for taking the time to put this together. Java Swing works with Matlab, so on the job, I'm needing to learn how these two play with each other, and how to develop more using the Jswing capability.

obviously the language has changed a bit since 2013 but should this code still work? I typed everything here verbatim and it doesn't want to recognize line 16 from 6:21

I don't understand why you create a new BasicSwing object without giving it to a reference variable. Doesn't the JVM just delete the object then because garbage collection realises that the object is not reachable?

Hello…i like your toturial…and i wanted to ask….i am going for a secondary laptop which aim for thin size and light weight. would not want to spend me since i am a student…so i search online.amd i found something from intel, which is the low end low power processor the appolo lale N3450. wanted to ask you that is this kind of processor can done these java swing/javaFX stuff? it has around 6GB+- RAM, intel graphic 500 and also SSD….i will be using Eclipse as my IDE alot…so what will be your opinion?
from those people who suggesting laptop for coding, they always suggest that the laptop should have at least 8 GB of RAM and also Graphic Card…is it really necessary for this kind of java coding?(swing, javaFX, robocode).
or they are just planning for the future needs ?
so what kind of coding will, required those high spec?
could you please explain it to me?i am new to computer science..really hope you that will reply to me…thank you…

setDefaultCloseOperation(javax.swing.WindowConstants.EXIT_ON_CLOSE), you are missing this line. that's why the program wasn't closing
