    Dear Awais Mirza, nice tutorial. I just wanted to add, that the open file function does not work as intended. Have you tried to open a large .txt file? You will recognise that the application will need a lot of time or even freeze. My suggestion is to adapt your while loop or simply just use textArea.read(reader, null)…. greets

    Thank you Awais for this notepad tutorial.
    And kindly describe in comments the next code to understand it as well.

    FileDialog fileDialog = new FileDialog(textEditorGui.this, "Open file" , FileDialog.LOAD);
    fileDialog.setVisible(true);

    if (fileDialog.getFile() != null){
    filename = fileDialog.getDirectory() + fileDialog.getFile();
    setTitle(filename);

    }
    try {
    BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader (new FileReader(filename));
    StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder();

    String line = null;

    while ((line = reader.readLine()) != null){
    sb.append(line + "n");
    textArea.setText(sb.toString());

    }
    reader.close();
    } catch (IOException e) {
    System.out.println("File not found :)");

    The Search Button could be something like that to avoid errors :

    if(!"".equals(searchField.getText())){
    searchTextArea(textArea, searchField.getText());
    }else{
    removeHighlight(textArea);
    }

    Anyway, Thank you so much for this Tutorial!
