Python is a wonderful programming language that is easy to learn. It is a scripting language but is more of a challenge than AppleScript. I decided to create some tutorial on Python, so I wanted to give an introduction first.

the code for your function finding the area of the square is wrong…also background music should be half as loud as your voice.

Typically Mac OS systems come installed with command line text editors, i.e. vi, vim, and emacs. So you can script in terminal if you know how to utilize these tools

Great video… though I’d just like to point out that one can indeed edit script(s) when within the Terminal window and one would do that using the editor known as ‘vi’ , which is the original script / program editor for all Unix based OS platforms (it’s built into / in with the Unix shell) and it is superb for editing scripts.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vi

Nb. A more GUI based version of ‘vi’ (and one that run brilliantly on OSX) is called MacVim.

Thanks for the video sir. Great tips. Only problem is the music. It makes it extremely difficult to hear you and focus on what you are saying. Thanks.

@lpdj12 I just snapped in a Garageband loop. I think it was called Pendulum for the intro.

You can’t create python in terminal? Try vi
